Southwest Early College Academy (SWECA) is proud to announce the receipt of official correspondence from President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The letter recognizes SWECA for its selection as a Top 10 School in the World in the 2026 T4 Education World’s Best School Prizes, under the category of Overcoming Adversity.
This international recognition reflects the resilience and determination of our students, who consistently demonstrate that dedication and ambition transcend circumstance. For our educators and staff, it serves as validation of their daily commitment to fostering academic growth, mentorship, and student success.
Situated on the U.S.–Mexico border in San Luis, Arizona, SWECA is honored to represent both our local community and the nation on a global stage. While this distinction marks a significant milestone, our primary commitment remains unchanged: providing an environment where every student is valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their highest potential.
We extend our sincere appreciation to those who make our school’s mission possible:
• To our students: This recognition belongs to you and your unwavering perseverance.
• To our families: Thank you for trusting us with your children’s education and future.
• To our staff: Thank you for your daily dedication to supporting and guiding our Mustangs.
• To our San Luis community: Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Please join us in congratulating Sophia Fregoso, our Ambassador of Excellence of the Month!

Sophia was nominated by Mrs. Delgadillo, who had this to say about her:

“She is an exceptionally dedicated and focused student who remains consistently on task and respectful of those around her. She truly embodies the GRIT expectations every single day. Because of her outstanding work ethic, unwavering commitment to her education, and positive attitude, she should be the Ambassador of Excellence.”

Sophia’s dedication, respect, positive attitude, and commitment to doing her best are a wonderful example of what it means to demonstrate GRIT each and every day.

Congratulations, Sophia!

Huge congratulations to our very own principal, Luis Reyes of Southwest Early College Academy, for being selected to serve on the 2026–2028 National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET) Educator Advisory Board!

His selection is a reflection of the leadership, vision, and dedication he continues to bring to our students, teachers, and school community. We are proud to see the work happening at Southwest Early College Academy represented on a national stage!
