Week of March 23-27
Monday: Day 1
-Objective: SWBAT analyze a virtual rendition of a famous museum by exploring it as if they were walking through it.
-Standard: VA.PR.4.7: Compare how technologies have changed the way artwork is presented and experienced (such as virtual tours, interactive screens, digital projections, virtual tours, etc.)
-Activity/Assignment
- Students will pick from one museum out of the 3 available below:

- How to Access the Museums:
- Click on the link to the museum you chose.
- When the web page opens, on the right side of the screen, there will be a yellow person. Click on him, it will take you to the museum.
- You have 3 options to move around:
- You can click around to move through the museums OR
- You can click on the pictures that show up at the bottom to move through the museum OR
- You can use the arrows on your keyboard to move around.
- Your Goal:
- As you look through the museum, your job is to find one artwork that stands out to you the most. Fill out the day 1 part of the Assignment 1 worksheet with the artist’s name, name of the artwork, and why it was your favorite.
Tuesday: Day 2
-Objective: SWBAT examine an online art gallery by looking through the National Gallery of Art Museum’s Collection.
-Standard: VA.PR.4.7: Compare how technologies have changed the way artwork is presented and experienced (such as virtual tours, interactive screens, digital projections, virtual tours, etc.)
-Activity/Assignment
- For this second part of the activity, students will examine the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC: https://artsandculture.google.com/partner/national-gallery-of-art-washington-dc?hl=en
- How to access the gallery:
- Click on the link to the museum
- Scroll down until you find the 42,462 items. These are all the artworks that are in the National Gallery of Art’s Collection
- Your Goal:
- As you look through the gallery, your job is to find one artwork that stands out to you the most. Fill out the day 2 part of the worksheet with the artist’s name, name of the artwork, and why it was your favorite.
Wednesday: Day 3
-Objective: SWBAT explore art history by navigating through an interactive timeline.
-Standard: VA.PR.4.7: Compare how technologies have changed the way artwork is presented and experienced (such as virtual tours, interactive screens, digital projections, virtual tours, etc.)
-Activity/Assignment

- Students will explore an online art timeline created by The British Museum.
- Click on the right side of the screen that says: “Art and Design”
- Explore different artworks created over 1000 years ago by clicking on different bubbles.
- The timeline tells you where they are from (bottom) and when they were made (left side).
- Your Goal:
- As you look through the timeline, your job is to find one artwork that stands out to you the most. Fill out the day 3 part of the worksheet with the artist’s name, name of the artwork, and why it was your favorite.
Thursday: Day 4
-Objective: SWBAT compare different ways that artwork can be presented with technology to the traditional way in a physical exhibition.
-Standard: VA.PR.4.7: Compare how technologies have changed the way artwork is presented and experienced (such as virtual tours, interactive screens, digital projections, virtual tours, etc.)
-Activity/Assignment
- On your worksheet, answer the day 4 Question:
For the last few weeks, we had been talking about our children’s rights artwork and how we were going to display it at the library so that you could go with your family and see your artwork.
Compare the experience of going to see your artwork in real life to your 3 experiences of seeing the artwork in an online gallery/exhibit. How has technology changed the way you can view art? Is it the same or different? Is it better? Why would it be useful to be able to see an art museum’s art online instead of in person?
Friday: Landscapes from the Laundry!
-Objective: SWBAT create artwork using only household available materials.
-Standard: VA. CR.2.7a: Demonstrate persistence in developing skills with various materials, methods, and approaches.
-Activity/Assignment
- In this activity, you will be creating a landscape. A landscape is an artwork that shows nature scenes like houses, mountains, a forest, etc. Think about Bob Ross’s paintings!
- The only material you will need is Your own clothes! In many different colors.
- You will choose a landscape you would like to do; you can google landscapes to get some ideas!
- Then you will arrange your clothes into different shapes that could help you create your landscape.
- Here are some examples:

- Attach pictures of your own landscape to the Day 5 part of the worksheet or just email them to your teacher, she would really like to see your art!
